We're a small family farm located in the mountains of west-centeral New Mexico, specializing in growing delightful gourmet garlic with sustainable methods. Since it's a family farm, we work as a family. Each member of the family adds their own sparkle to our work force.
There is no question about who's boss in the garlic world. With the help of Dad, Jared has continually expanded his garlic production for the past several years. This hobby has grown to a business, and Jared enjoys supervising the entire process as it unfolds month to month—from planting to harvesting to marketing. He also keeps a close eye on his laborers (i.e. Jessie and Nathan, among others) without whom, the business would not be where it is today. Jared's ability to be light-hearted while still meaning business, makes everything more enjoyable. Yes, he's boss, but he's a good one
If you ever need the answer to a garlic-related question and Jared is not available, this girl usually has the answer. Jessie is a hard-working, dependable girl and Jared's right hand in the garlic business. From quickly harvesting to meticulously cleaning to precisely sorting and bagging and then carefully planting again, Jessie is a garlic expert. That's all there is to it. And her ever-ready smile and hard work ethic make her a joy to be around.
Nathan is also an important part of the team, and when he is present, humor is never lacking. Although he is the youngest member, he does much to keep the morale up during the long work hours. Harvesting and cleaning the beautiful big bulbs are two of his favorite parts of garlic-growing. And of course, he likes to eat it too!
Without these two individuals, the Gila Garlic Farm would not even be a reality. From continual encouragement to financial backing to strategic planning, Jeff and Billie Jean have been invested in seeing this venture succeed. They can often be seen working along with their children out in the field harvesting, planting or cleaning garlic in the barn. If you stop by, you will surely be invited to stay a while and probably enjoy a delicious dinner with a garlic flair. What would a garlic farm be without gourmet garlic dishes?
